ESIC – Funding for Evidence Synthesis Infrastructure

Between March and April, HubLAC made available a live mapping of members interested in developing proposals for the sectoral hubs announced by Wellcome Trust/ESIC.

🌐 The mapping received more than 70 responses, and we were able to facilitate connections for proposals across all 5 sectors, with 43 organisations and individuals connected.

In addition to the mapping, we facilitated connections between organisations and individuals from Latin America and the Caribbean and global partners for consortia, while also supporting the dissemination of qualified information about the call:

  • 🔊 We held two webinars in Spanish and English to clarify questions from the regional community, and participated in the regular meeting of the Brazilian Coalition for Evidence to answer questions in Portuguese.
  • 📃 We developed a guidance document on the relationship between sectoral and regional hubs to support applicants in preparing their proposals.

ESIC – Evidence Synthesis Infrastructure Collaborative is a global initiative building collaborative infrastructure to strengthen evidence synthesis and its use in public policy, social programmes, and sustainable development.

On February 24, Wellcome Trust launched a funding call (£1.5 to £1.9 million) to establish five new global infrastructure hubs aimed at enabling AI-supported evidence synthesis in a more timely, relevant, and affordable way to address policy-scale challenges. This initiative is part of the first round of investments of Wellcome’s Evidence Synthesis Infrastructure Collaborative (ESIC). Full information is available on the official webpage.
